It’s a New Year... Make the most of it

So we've already gone some days in the New Year... but it’s still a New Year so happy new year everyone.

A few days ago a friend and I were talking about all the LORD helped us achieve last year and share our plans for 2015. My friend had a long list of things he wanted to do. Something he called New Year resolutions.

Like most people, he had penned down his “resolutions”. Things he hoped to stop doing, things he hope to start doing and things he hoped to continue doing. My concern wasn't with his long list but whether he will have the discipline to follow though all he has resolved to do.
New Year's resolutions are great...all those name it, claim it, throw it, and whatever else are great but understand that a New Year doesn't guarantee a new you, it doesn't guarantee fewer problems nor does it guarantee a better life.

Nothing changes unless you are changed. Change does not happen by osmosis and change does not occur just because you say you have a desire for it. It must come from the heart. Christ changes the heart, and a changed heart leads to a change of actions. The proof of true change is seen in the individual’s actions.

While you make your new year’s resolutions, one resolution you mustn't miss out on is to be a changed person. What are you willing to do differently? What are you willing to stop doing totally? Your actions not words will reveal whether or not you are serious about change.

Nothing changes until you change and if you are ready for change, do it now! GOD has given you another 365 days ensure you make the most of it. A new year is not just for you to do your own thing but to live for HIM.

This year realize what is most important in life. It is not about the properties you can accumulate or the popularity you could amass. It is about serving the Lord in spirit and truth. It is about spending quality time your family and friends and creating [new] beautiful memories with extended families. It is about being thankful at all times. It is about sacrificing self for the well being of others.

This year, whatever the LORD tells you to do; do it immediately, do it all and do it right. The book He told you to write will not write itself. The business will not start itself. Moving to the new place will not happen unless you make the appropriate actions. Obedience is not optional. It is MUST.  And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.” - Genesis 7:5

In conclusion, I will say eternity is a breath away for all of us. We must live each day bearing this in mind. Consider the life you live and the decisions you're making.  Don’t forget we all will one day stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and give account for every word, thought and deed and as a righteous judge that He is; He will judge righteously.

Have a blessed year everyone and until next time, stay focused.

A New Year Is Before Us

If you were given the opportunity to re-live 2013 would you? If I were given the opportunity to re-live 2013, I would 20 times over. 2013 for me was an incredible year but the reality is, 2013 is over and a new year is before us. I am so thankful to be in 2014.

So now…is a NEW YEAR the best time for new beginnings?

I think we all have some pressure of some sort to make a resolution to DO something or NOT do something anymore. I personally would make a list… My resolutions were oftentimes so rigid and then, life would inevitably make one or all of my “resolutions” nearly impossible.

I would have to break my seemingly ridiculous resolutions – which will be followed by total frustration and even anger towards myself…

Over the years however, I learned that a new year does not make a new you; only Jesus can transform us and make us new so do not get caught up in the hype and emotionalism of making resolutions. Making new resolutions when you could barely follow through with the ones you made last year is needless.

Does that mean making resolution is baseless? No… what it means is, a good choice or change can be made not only at the beginning of a New Year but daily, even moment by moment. You don’t have to wait for January as there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.

That being said, what were you like a year ago? Each year, we should be growing. A little less emotional, a little less "self" led, a little more God-led, a little nicer, a little more patient, a lot less jealous, a lot less envious and a little more positive.

If you find that you haven't grown as you would like too, a new year is before you… all you have to do is resolve to resolve…. Cut off from every activity that has gotten you nowhere. Life is progressive and God doesn't like stagnancy.

Enjoy these Twelve Wisdom Nuggets as a New Year gift from me!

  1. Fix your eyes on Christ and keep your eyes solely on Him. You cannot go wrong when God is leading you. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Proverbs 3:6 "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
  2. Evaluate yourself from time to time. Constantly ask yourself “I’m I living the life God ordained for me to live?” You may be shocked by the answer but whatever it be, make sure you are not living in deception. Be consistent in prayers and ask the Lord to show you areas in your life you need to work on. You mustn't live less than the life God ordained for you to live.
  3. Be responsible and reliable. When you say you are going to do something, do it. If you give someone your word, make sure you do what you said. You must get to a point where no one has to tell you to get to work on time, pray, submit to God, etc
  4. Evaluate your relationships... The people in your life are supposed to add value to your life not stress and trouble. Realize that as you grow older, some relationships should not grow with you so evaluate all of your friendships/relationships after which you terminate, demote or promote accordingly. Truth is, not everyone deserves access to you...
  5. Know your worth and be comfortable in your skin… If you live on people's compliments you're going to die from their criticism. People are fickle; they will praise you one day then bash you the next day. Don't let the negative people in your life be the ones with the most impact. Love yourself, be yourself.
  6. Do not confuse motion with progress.  Not everyone who appears to be moving is making progress in life. It’s not a matter of whether or not someone is moving but what are they moving towards? Motion does not necessarily mean progress so envy no one.

  7. Learn and grow… learning is a prerequisite for growth. Stop waiting for someone else to tell you everything. There are so many books, tapes, mp3s, etc. out today that could teach you what you do not know.  Get knowledge. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom” – Proverbs 4:7
  8. Sometimes it’s OK to keep quite...You are not supposed to express every thought that runs through your head. Some things are best left unsaid. And there are some things that must be said and even with the things that must be said, use wisdom before you speak. A few wise words will do much more than a lot of foolish babbling.
  9. Spend time with your Maker... I don’t hope God answers prayers; I know He does so get on your kneel and communicate with your heavenly father daily. God shouldn't be the last person you run to when all Hell break lose, He should be the first.Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will answer you”- Psalm 50:15
  10. Reach others with the gospel… When is the last time you shared Christ with someone? Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel – Mark 16:15. Sharing Christ must be something we do with joy. God has given us another year not only to live for Him but also to reach out with the gospel. Christians make that a priority.
  11. Let go of everything that’s holding you back... If you are still held back by something in your past, you are not in freedom; you are still controlled by past incidents. I pray for healing in your heart, mind and body.
  12. For some people, 2014 is a second chance. There are some of you GOD told to do something in 2013, but you didn't. The WORD of the LORD is coming again… will you like Jonah respond this time?
In conclusion, I want to say 2014 is going to be a great year for us all. Just make sure that God is leading you in all the things you do. I know it sounds cliche but trust me; you cannot go wrong with God on your side.

Each day is a gift from God, not a given right so cherish every minute that God gives you breath!
Happy New Year Everyone… Make the most of 2014

It’s a new year, make it awesome!

By God’s hand, 2012 has left the Calendar and 2013 is here... Happy New Year family! I’m glad we made it to 2013 and it is my prayer that 2013 will count for good in our lives.

Stop and think about this for a second! I don’t know about you, but about this time last year, my life was totally different. But for the grace and mercies of God I couldn’t have imagined that I would be where I am today. God keeps blowing me away with His goodness.

One question I will like us to ask ourselves is; what am I going to do with my life this year? 2013 is here and however the year turns out largely depends on us.  The year can be a good year or a bad year. It’s all depending on us.

The question is not; will my life work this year? The question is, will you work hard at your life and make it count for something? A lot of people are already proclaiming that the year to be this and that and making different resolutions.

Well, the fact that it’s a new year doesn’t mean that things will work out so easily or that it will be challenges free. LIFE WON'T GET ANY EASIER THIS YEAR OR ANY OTHER YEAR IN PARTICULAR.

The uncomfortable truth is, life will get tough and situations will get hard; but we must not fret, give in or give up. We have GOD on our side and one with God (scripture says) is majority. HOLD ON TO GOD- THE ONE WHO KNOWS AND HOLDS THE YEAR IN HIS HANDS.

It’s a New Year, let nothing hold you back. Make this year special. Let this year become the year you become that new you. Let this year be the year you stop doing those same old things that have gotten you nowhere.

Let this year be the year you stop being sorry for yourself and stop making excuses for being at a place you know you shouldn’t be. If your life needs a turn around, it must start with you.

Do you desire to be knowledgeable? I realized that IGNORANCE IS NOT HEREDITARY. Wisdom is available to anyone who chooses to seek it. And there are over a thousand and one good read books you can lay your hands on and get informed.

This year, we need to establish what's important to us and what's not so we don't waste time, energy and resources on things that are of no benefit to us. And don’t be afraid to give up on things that are not beneficial to you.

A New Year offers an opportunity to look back, and see how far we have come, review and take inventory of our lives, redefine our priorities, set goals, dream dreams and to look forward to a wonderful year.

Perhaps 2012 was not so great a year for you! Well don’t sweat. Whatever it was that didn’t go well last year, let it go! Leave 2012 in 2012. Don’t carry over baggage from last year to this year. It’s a new year, it’s a clean slate, and it’s a fresh start. Give it to God.

Isaiah 43 tells us “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old”.

Did someone hurt you last year; don’t carry it over into this year. I know the situation may seem difficult to forgive, but forgive anyway! If not for anything so your Heavenly Father forgives you. Let there be no ill will in your heart. Forgive those who use you, curse you, and gossip about you.

In life there will always be critics who will criticize you, people who are going to talk about you and slander your name but don’t let it get to you.  Their criticism should make you better not bitter.  And since people are going to talk about you anyway, make sure YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING WORTHWHILE TO TALK ABOUT.

Let’s make 2013 the best year of our lives by laying everything into the hands of God. Let’s ask Him to direct our steps and give us His heart...why? Because when you think about it, ONLY God will never leave us, never forget about us, never give up on us. And if we have given our lives to Him, He will always be there working things out for our good and His glory.

This year, never put anyone before GOD. People come and go but only GOD remains. Scriptures says He is a friend that is closer than a brother so depend more on God, rely less on people.

This year, we must not be afraid to stand for righteousness at all times even if it means us standing alone. In a world filled with so much confusion and uncertainty, Jesus Christ remains our only true hope.  And it’s in our best interest to stay with Christ.

I talk about my faith a lot not because I’m a religious freak but because I have a relationship with God made possible through Christ Jesus and God is too good that I can’t help but talk about Him.

I have seen God do phenomenal things in my life and the lives of others. God has never failed, He never will and He will not start with you. He has a flawless track record. He has never lost a case, never lost a battle, never lost a Patient.

If you desire to have a relationship with God, just ask Jesus to become Lord over your life and place no one before Him. It’s that simple.

If you are committed to living for the Lord this year and beyond, I will love to partner with you. Inbox me lets pray together, encourage one another and grow together. The best investment you can ever make is eternal investment.

In conclusion, I want to say, don’t get left behind this year, the world is moving, people are moving so move and get going.  2013 must not drift by!  THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS YEAR SHOULDN’T BE BETTER. It is my prayer that the year counts for good in your life.

It’s a new year; make it awesome…
